Study on Assessments of the greenhouse gas net zero emissions pathway and developments

Absrtact
Under the current situation of high risk of global climate emergency, to curb global warming, 2050 net zero emissions has become a global trend. In response to this change, Taiwan needs to carry out transformation strategies in the fields of "energy transformation", "industry transformation", and "people's livelihood and justice transformation". Based on the construction of the technical database of the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP) model, this project considers the carbon reduction trends of current strategies and evaluates the gap between the maximum carbon reduction potential and net zero emissions under enhanced policies and commercial technologies. Propose the development trend and carbon reduction plan of various departments in my country, discuss the cost and feasibility of the carbon reduction plan proposed by each department, and evaluate the future achievement of the 2050 goal or the net zero emission transformation strategies. At the same time, the project also conducted a study on 2050 net zero emissions with Vivid Economics, a cooperating authoritative research institution selected by the British Office Taipei, to discuss the goals and challenges of Taiwan's energy transition and the research and development of deep carbon reduction technologies Challenges and opportunities for a sustainable future. The major tasks and results include: 1. Studying the net zero emission path of global vision and modeling applications; planning the development scenario of Taiwan's low-carbon society; 2. Building the long-term low-carbon emission analysis platform model to evaluate the long-term carbon reduction potential and cost; 3. Analyzing the innovative scenario of net zero emissions, exploring the potential of hydrogen society in the future and the development of related low-carbon emission infrastructure; 4. Evaluating the long-term vision of Taiwan's low-carbon emission pathway; analyzing net-zero emission feasibility for sector transformation recommendations; and 5. Remarking the UK net zero emission pathway; analyzing the scenarios and possible options of Taiwan's long-term net zero emission pathway.
